This is a remarkable example of intricate and dramatic stone work. The globe is securely mounted on a beautiful, ornate, and hefty silver stand. At the base of the stand, a precision glass-topped brass compass has been incorporated, complementing the overall design.
Each country on the globe has been inlaid with a different type of stone, each piece individually cut and ground to fit the precise interlocking shapes, then polished and set into this exquisite work of art with great care and attention to detail. The elements of the globe are crafted from a stunning array of materials, including lapis lazuli, mother of pearl, amethyst, African jade, tiger's eye, jasper, turquoise, purple quartz, onyx, unakite, abalone, green marble, and many other beautifully hued and richly veined stones.
The latitude and longitude lines are delicate, polished brass ribbons, embedded through the globe. Each of these magnificent globes requires ten individual steps to compose, and it takes more than 1500 hours of skilled labor to complete.
This 13-inch tall tabletop gemstone globe has a diameter of 220mm (9 inches) and features a never-rust zinc alloy core stand with a gold plating finish. While we strive for perfection, due to the hand-cut, glued, pasted, and polished nature of this product, minor imperfections such as spelling errors, uneven polishing, surface fine lines, or small amounts of loose stone dust inside the globe may be present. These are not considered defects, but rather the inherent characteristics of a truly handmade product.
